Commercially successful companies with at least two full-time employees (or part-time equivalent) are invited to apply for the Queens Awards. The awards are the most prestigious accolade for business excellence and respected as a mark for quality and success nationally and internationally.
They give winners, especially small businesses, instant credibility and therefore a powerful marketing tool. They can help open doors in difficult markets, attracting new business and raising capital. Staff can also receive a morale boost.
Business representatives are invited to an evening reception given by the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Winners of 2007 awards in the North East include Cummins, DuPont Teijin Films, DUCO, Shared Interest Society Limited and TRW Occupant Safety Systems.
The categories are: The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Innovation and Sustainable Development. There is also a category for Enterprise Promotion for individuals who actively promote enterprise.
The competition is free to enter. There is no set number of Awards granted each year; much of it depends on the strength of the competition. Closing date for submission is on 31 October. For more information and to submit your entry, please visit www.queensawards.org.uk.
